Energy-efficient heat pumps and domestic water chillers.

Heat Pumps / Water Chillers

Overview

What it does

Flow Dynamics supplies heat pump water heaters across the UAE. Heat pumps produce three to four kilowatts of hot water for every kilowatt of electricity consumed, which makes them the single biggest efficiency upgrade available for Gulf hotels, labour accommodations, and residential projects, especially those already running large roof-top AC loads. The product line covers air-source and water-source domestic hot water heat pumps, sanitary-hot-water chiller-heaters, and packaged modular systems with integrated storage.

How it works

The working principle

A hot-water heat pump runs a vapour-compression refrigeration cycle in reverse. The evaporator extracts low-grade heat from outdoor air (air-source) or from a chilled-water return loop (water-source). The compressor raises the refrigerant temperature to roughly 65–75 °C, and the condenser transfers that heat into the domestic water circuit. Because the cycle moves heat rather than generating it, the electrical input is only a fraction of the heat delivered. In a combined building, the unit simultaneously chills a process loop and produces free hot water, effectively doubling the useful output.

Applications

Where it's used

Typical installations across the UAE and wider Gulf include:

  • Hotel and resort domestic hot water
  • Labour accommodation central DHW plants
  • Residential towers with central hot water
  • Swimming pool heating
  • Dairy, food-processing wash water
  • Combined chiller + hot-water industrial processes

FAQ

Common questions

How much cheaper is heat pump hot water than electric?

A heat pump delivers 3 to 4 kW of heat per kW of electricity (COP 3.8 to 4.5 in typical Gulf conditions), so running cost is roughly a quarter to a third of direct electric heating for the same hot water output.

Air source or water source, which fits my building?

Air-source units suit most rooftops; water-source units pair with an existing chilled-water return and can produce hot water while cooling a process loop, doubling useful output. The building services decide, and we confirm the selection.

What capacity heat pump plant does my project need?
