Venturi Valves & Controls

Pressure-independent airflow control for critical environments.

Venturi Valves & Controls

Overview

What it does

Flow Dynamics supplies venturi valves and lab airflow controls in the UAE. Venturi valves deliver fast, precise, pressure-independent airflow control for fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, isolation rooms, and cleanrooms, environments where a sudden duct-pressure swing must never change the flow into or out of a critical space. The valves have no sensors in the airstream, respond in under a second, and hold flow to within ±5% of setpoint across a wide duct-pressure range. Control integrates with lab airflow management systems and directly with fume hood sash sensors.

How it works

The working principle

A venturi valve is a spring-loaded cone that rides inside a machined venturi body. The cone position sets the open area, and the spring is calibrated so that as duct static pressure rises or falls, the cone moves to exactly compensate, maintaining constant flow without any electronic feedback. An actuator repositions the cone to the commanded flow setpoint in under a second. Because the mechanism is fully internal, there are no dirt-prone sensors in the airstream and the valve can be lined with PTFE for aggressive chemical service.

Applications

Where it's used

Typical installations across the UAE and wider Gulf include:

  • Fume hood supply and exhaust control
  • Biosafety cabinet and isolator exhaust
  • Cleanroom pressure cascade control
  • Hospital isolation and airborne-infection rooms
  • Animal research facility caging exhaust
  • Nuclear and radiochemistry lab ventilation

FAQ

Common questions

Why venturi valves instead of VAV boxes for labs?

A venturi valve holds flow mechanically against duct pressure swings with sub-second response and no airstream sensors to foul, which is exactly what a fume hood or isolation room needs. A conventional VAV box is slower and its sensors sit in the contaminated stream.

Do venturi valves handle corrosive exhaust?

Yes, with PTFE or phenolic lined bodies for aggressive chemical service, specified per your lab chemistry.

How is a lab airflow control system designed?

Send us the application, airflow or demand figures, and any consultant specification. Our engineers reply with a defended selection, datasheets and submittal documentation. Sizing is always confirmed by an engineer, never by a web calculator.
